Our initiatives
We have two initiatives, in place since 2019, and are looking to extend further by offering sessions for those with Autism and also working towards supporting those with mental health issues.
Runners with visual impairment (VI)
We have a team of trained and UKA licenced guide runners who run at a variety of paces. They are always delighted to guide those with visual impairment at our weekly training sessions, club runs and race events.
For anyone with VI who would like to try running, no previous experience is necessary.
The club regularly holds a six-week beginners running and fitness course, as well as offering all ability club sessions.
These sessions are held in the privacy and safety of our own facilities.
DSActive Athletics
DSActive is a program run by the Down Syndrome Association (DSA) and aims to offer as many opportunities as possible to people with Down Syndrome (DS) to lead a healthy and active life.
We offer a monthly athletics session for athletes with Down Syndrome which covers all aspects of running, jumping and throwing. Our coaches attend DSA’s impairment-specific coach education workshop, are fully licensed by England Athletics and also DBS checked.
