Friday 1st Aug 2025 saw the club open the annual Bungay Black Shuck Festival with a run that traced the 1577 Black Shuck’s progress from Blythburgh to Bungay.

With routes and paces for all, ranging from 3 miles to the full 15 mile route, 2025 saw our best club turnout yet! With over 50 runners navigating their way through the Suffolk countryside to complete their run and enjoy an evening ice cream in the evening sun at the Buttercross in Bungay.

The run also raised money for Young Minds Trust – supporting the mental health of children and young adults.

The Black Shuck Festival is an annual folklore festival held in Bungay, Suffolk, over the first weekend of August. The festival commemorates the visit of the Black Shuck, a mythical dog, which went on the rampage between Blythburgh and Bungay on August 4, 1577.
