Fast Feet, Fancy Dress and Muddy Paws: The 2025 Groggy Doggy

Main Featured Image for Post

Three hundred and fifty runners joined us for our Festive Groggy Doggy Boxing Day races this year.

It was a fantastic sunny but chilly morning to help chase the Christmas cobwebs away, with our annual Cross Country Race on Bungay’s Outney Common.

The event, began with the junior race, a 1.5-mile circuit, with many congratulations to all that took part and to our junior winners Harris Smitherman and Evie Hanner.

Next up were the adult races, in which runners had the option of being accompanied by their four-legged friends.  The route takes in a stretch alongside the meandering River Waveney with competitors navigating through water, mud and grassy floodplains to cover either one lap or two of the 2.6-mile course.

Congratulations and a big thank you to everyone who took part this year, both runners, supporters and volunteers and particularly to our Bungay Town Reeve, Jason Collins, who joined us to present the awards which went to,

Morris Bacon, fastest male over 2 laps,

Jo Andrews, fastest female over 2 laps,

Charles Ohsten, fastest male over 2 laps with a dog,

Rebecca Thorby, fastest female over 2 laps with a dog,

Oliver Gilbert, fastest male over 1 lap,

Florence Abbott, fastest female over 1 lap,

Jim Last, fastest male over 1 lap with a dog,

Isabelle Last, fastest female over 1 lap with a dog,
